Why study in Innsbruck?

Innsbruck is an extremely student friendly city with approximately 30,000 students, and as a result the city is vibrant, active and full of life. No matter the season there is always something going on in Innsbruck, surrounded by the Austrian Alps there are glorious views in any direction, and a multitude of outdoor adventures at your doorstep. There are many active and sporty people living in Innsbruck, so you don’t need to look far for a likeminded partner in crime, whether it be for a relaxing trail walk or an extreme mountain climb. Innsbruck is situated between some of the world’s most famous Ski resorts, and during winter you are spoilt for choice when it comes to challenge and variety, no matter your skill level. The Nordkettenbahn cable car can take you directly from the city center to the ski pists, and with such spectacular scenery, it’s no surprise that the mountain top cafes and bars are popular spots all year round. The Innsbruck Olympic ski jump stands 746m tall and is visible from anywhere in Innsbruck, located in the center of the city it also offers breathtaking views of the surroundings, as well as breathtaking ski jumping events throughout winter. For the more city orientated individual there are parks and museums located all over the city, and a wide range of community organized activities to keep you occupied on a rainy day.

The large community and family presence also provides Innsbruck with a very friendly and safe atmosphere. Nothing in Innsbruck is ever far away, and getting around Innsbruck is a breeze, with numerous bike paths, and regular buses and trains throughout the city, having a car is not necessary in Innsbruck. The city boasts a variety of restaurants and nightlife, surrounded by beautiful historical buildings and landmarks, all set amidst the fairytale backdrop provided by the Austrian Alps. Students regularly meet along the banks of the Inn throughout the warmer months to sit in the sunshine, and enjoy live music and drinks. When the weather gets colder most of the city can be found canoodling by the fire, Glühwein in hand, at one of the many famous Christmas markets.
